A great good morning to you, friends and neighbors out there in Internet Land! And to family members who dropped by, cats are noisy and nosy.

The acquisition of treasures by a lying tongue
Is a fleeting vapor, the pursuit of death.
The violence of the wicked will drag them away,
Because they refuse to act with justice.
Proverbs 21:6-7, NASB

At school yesterday, our delightful Alicia Ann was walking in the hall with her friend Dulce, who moved here with her family from somewhere in Latin America a few years ago. Dulce has slept over at our house, and seems very nice.

Arugula, another girl in their class, approached them, and said to Alicia Ann, loudly enough to be heard by anyone nearby,

“What are you doing, walking with that ho?”

She glared at Dulce; and then she stuck her nose in the air and walked off.

And that’s why Alicia Ann monopolized the evening of my gift-from-God, happily-ever-after trophy wife Vanessa, the elegant, foxy, praying black grandmother of Woodstock, GA.

What’s left for Papa to do? I doubt that I have anything to share better than what she gained on Vanessa’s shoulder last night. But, I DID have Proverbs 21.

I explained to her that the treasure Arugula gained by a lying tongue was popularity, based on fear, and that it was going to vanish like morning fog; that her insults were violence that would drag her away.

I counted 16 verses from the chapter that applied to the situation (including the verses about the contentious woman!); I made her a cheat-sheet with those verses, and she took it with her, to refer to at appropriate times.

God’s wisdom isn’t just for adults. Is it?

Peace be on your household.

  1. The bullying of teenage girls, how well I remember it. Anyone who thinks boys are worse at bullying never had a sister or daughter. Boys tend to be physical, girls use words and emotions.

Good on Alicia Ann for standing with her friend. That is strength and courage. And major props to you and Vanessa for giving her the love and guidance to develop that strength.
