Tiny Devotional for Saturday, 11/07/2020

 A great good morning to all my Internet friends and neighbors! And to family members who may have dropped in: did Bessie ever serve us cheese on cinnamon toast?

And I saw among the naive,
And discerned among the youths
A young man lacking sense,
Passing through the street near her corner;
And he walks along the way to her house,
In the twilight, in the evening,
In the middle of the night and the darkness.
Proverbs 7:7-9, NASB

This morning I asked the Chattahoochee Patterson Ladies what distinguished THIS young man from the others. All were, after all, YOUNG and NAIVE. So, what set him apart?

He’s in the wrong place at the wrong time, they said.

Naive doesn’t mean stupid. It just means that you don’t know the rules, or maybe you don’t even know that there are rules. It’s not a bad thing; it’s a stage in our development, all of us. We learn, we go from naive to wise. It’s a win.

But this young man was lacking sense. Still, that in itself is not lethal. If he had stayed at home, he would be safe. If he had remained with the group (a GOOD group!), he would be safe.

However, he heads out to he-knows-not-where, in increasing darkness.

If you are a YOUNG person, take this literally; stay home, or with friends, and in the light.

If you are person of mature years, we trust that you already walk in this basic wisdom.

The arrows that are aimed at YOUR liver are figurative, not literal, but just as deadly. I’d tell you what those arrows are, but: I DON’T KNOW, EITHER.  I only know these arrows ALWAYS come out of darkness.

So: stay in the light.

Peace be on your household.
