Tiny Devotional for RED Friday,12-10-2021

A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, Remember Everyone Deployed, and those who struggle to return.

Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.

Proverbs 10:6, NASB

I’ve gotten in trouble before, because of what was on my head; specifically, hair, and hats.

Your head is OBVIOUS. And while even Baby Groot can learn that hats are NOT a part of your head, they can reflect identity, as can hair.
David Crosby wrote a song, calling his long hair his “freak flag.”
The uniformed services are EXCEEDINGLY specific about hair length and the wearing of hats (except, they call hats “covers”). I once got threatened by Drill Sergeant Boomdropper for lifting my helmet to get some air around my sweaty head while we were on a road march.

If it’s on your head, it’s there for all with eyes to see. Your mouth is NOT so obvious; it can conceal, as well as reveal.
Sometimes, it conceals violence.

The violence of a punch in the nose is impossible to conceal; it produces an immediate reaction, and most adults never have to deal with it.

Contempt, rejection, and judgment are far more common in the adult world. Often disguised by manipulation of people and events, cloaked in the mantle of authority, or even by sweet and soothing tones, you can encounter these forms of violence on a daily basis. They can make you crazy!

So, what can you do about it?
  • Sometimes, you endure it.
  • Sometimes, you expose it.
  • Sometimes, you have to escape.

There is SO much more to say about each option! Alas, I have used all my words for today.

Peace be on your household.
