A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, this is courtesy of the Saturday morning men’s group.

The wicked are overthrown and are no more
But the house of the righteous will stand.
Proverbs 12:7, NASB

ALL RIGHT!!!

This verse gives us an infallible method of measuring righteousness! Look for the oldest houses, and TA-DA! We have found righteousness!
Using that measure, we discover veritable hotbeds of righteousness in a pueblo in Taos, NM,  an earth mound at Watson Brake, LA, and for dessert, St. Augustine, Florida!
Ummm...no. I’ve been to St. Augustine, and while the Ripley’s Believe-It-Or-Not Museum is amusing, it isn’t really a sacred facility.

This finding may be disappointing for those who seek an easy method of spiritual discernment. Sorry.

While not abandoning metaphor entirely, I offer a SLIGHTLY less literal lesson:
Maintenance is a huge issue for homeowners. If you live in a rental property, any time the roof leaks, or the HVAC goes out, you call the landlord and they fix it.
Not an option for the homeowner. If you don’t want to live in a gradually crumbling pile of ex-building materials, you have to paint, patch, repair, replace, repeat.
It gets expensive, even painful; yet that process is the BEST, most RELIABLE method of transferring accumulated wealth to children and grandchildren.

Everyone who reads this is working on a building not made with hands, and hopes that those that come after will continue to build on the foundation which is already laid. So, put away the wood, hay, and stubble of confusion, contention, selfishness, and pride.

DEAL WITH IT!

It’s a temporary expense, for an eternal benefit.

Peace be on your household.
