Tiny Devotional for Monday, 09-19-2022
A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, it’s okay to leave a comment!
He who keeps understanding will find good.
Proverbs 19:8, NASV
Perhaps it’s goofy to find truth in struggles with technology. Eventually, I discover the struggle is really with myself. The goofiness remains.
I order a new keyboard every couple of years, which makes me a bit grumpy, because I’m a cheapskate. At first, the keyboard mechanics are perfectly fine, BUT the commonly used letters have worn off the keys. A, S, & E seem to be the first to go, leaving blank keys, with others fading away. A bit over a year ago, I discovered commercial grade keyboard stickers, which will not wear off. However, with time, between my tap-tap-tapping, crumbs, coffee, and keys leaping to the floor, the keyboard is truly rendered non-functional.
In a non-goofy move, I order a new keyboard, and a new set of keyboard stickers; in a goofy move, I keep using the old keyboard (FOR TWO MONTHS!) after the new stuff comes in. I behave similarly with my trackball, which has a sticky right-mouse-key.
Since I don’t touch-type, sometimes I’m clicking along, look up at the screen, and: there is nothing there; or gibberish; or all caps; or the drop-down menu is frozen. Then, my soul growls, because it’s aggravated.
There is NO wisdom in not using good equipment, which is on hand. Frugal/economical are virtues; cheapskate is not.
Today, I read this verse, and discovered I was not being wise, nor loving my soul. Instead, my cheapness was provoking it.
So, I opened the new stuff, and am using it now.
Peace be on your household.
You ordered that over a year ago? Dud you just remember where you put it 🤣
