Tiny Devotional for Tuesday, 06-20-2023

 A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, the D&D crew ate all the popcorn.


A plan in the heart of a man is like deep water,
But a man of understanding draws it out.
Proverbs 20:5, NASB

NOTE: It’s impossible for me to consider this verse without thinking of the submersible Titan, gone missing since early Sunday morning. Their plan was indeed deep water, diving over two miles down to visit the wreckage of the Titanic. They have enough on-board oxygen to last perhaps until Friday. Whether the MASSIVE efforts by men of understanding will be enough to draw them out, no one knows. 
Lord, we pray for their rescue.

I’m not certain, but I THINK this verse has meaning to fishermen. I am NOT a fisherman;  ADD prevents me from sitting around holding a stick, waiting for something to happen.

Fishermen KNOW there is a great treasure below the surface, out of sight and out of reach; they also know that the methods used in a stream or pond will NOT work in the deep. 

When the net was adapted to fishing, it was a significant advance. Instead of bringing in fish one at a time, the net-fisher was able to feed his family, with enough left over to exchange for other things they needed.  

Having a lot of good plans, like having a big school of fish off-shore, is only a POTENTIAL resource. Dreams are lovely, but put no food on the table. Practical benefit comes when the plans are implemented, and found to actually WORK. 

Perhaps, that’s what the drawing out of plans means. 

I’m not claiming to be a man of understanding, so you be the judge.

    Amen my Brother Pat, as what the verse says, "A man of understanding draws it out" that is what we really needed for, to have a clear, precise understanding in every man's life's situation. We have lot's of plans but to understand the right plan is always the best.

    I feel like this verse hits home the idea of "I have so many great ideas and goals but I don't know how to get started"

    Yesterday afternoon, the US Coast Guard announced they had discovered a debris field on the ocean floor, containing pieces of the submersible Titan. Under the conditions of the catastrophic implosion of the pressure hull, all five aboard would have passed instantly.

 A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, reach for the sky. Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always. Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:17-18, NASB Today’s verse is 18, but I included 17, because I THINK they are a couplet. I wrote about verse 17 last month, and will try not to repeat myself. Our senses describe the present, our memory describes the past; the future is described by our hopes and our fears. In this little verse, we are given one of the strongest foundations for peace: yes, you DO have a future, and it’s a good one. Under most circumstances, we take the future for granted.
