Tiny Devotional for Saturday, 07-29-2023

A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, hooray for paper towels.

When a wise man has a controversy with a foolish man,
The foolish man either rages or laughs, and there is no rest.

Proverbs 29:9, NASB

If you are at home, reach out your arms. Anyone you can touch is likely to be in your closest circle, composed of your nearest family. Circle your arms, and hug them. Isn’t that nice?

The circle expands as you include friends and neighbors. There are special purpose circles; this morning, I participated in one of those, my Saturday morning Men of Purpose ZOOM meeting. Tomorrow, we’ll join the circles of fellowship at The Way Church and Liberty Church.
Lots of great, rewarding circles, and in all of them, we can see each other’s faces, and hear each other’s voices; frequently, we can even eat yummy food together, or meet for some other purpose.
Occasionally, we disagree, but we always discover how to adapt, and the circle grows stronger.

How is that that fools aren’t bringing turmoil to our circles?

It’s because fools really don’t know how to respond to sharing, hugs, and yummy food. Those things make them uncomfortable. On rare occasions, a wise group leader might have to redirect, if they become disruptive, but usually, they leave on their own.
If they aren’t too far gone, the controversy-loving fool realizes that fellowship is LOTS better than fussing, and they will seek what they really need.

A wise choice: teach the teachable, reach the reachable, and allow determined fools to go their own way. That brings peace to all who can receive it.

And in peace, we become more like Him.

Peace be on your household.

  1. Wise men learn from each other, sometimes people agree to disagree and at the end learn from each other. Teach the teachable and reach the reachable. Nice words my Brother Pat. Praise God!
