A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, I WAS confused, but not now.

Should your springs be dispersed abroad,
Streams of water in the streets?

Proverbs 5:16, NASB

Proverbs 5:15-18 uses water as an allegory to describe the importance of marital fidelity.  One of my first posts was about a man who took it literally, because he was terrified of missing God, and how I failed to reach him. Sigh; I wish I had another chance.

There is a MONSTROUSLY HUGE difference between fresh spring water and water running in the street. Even writing about it makes me shiver with disgust, because every nasty bit of garbage and waste is found in street water. I don’t even like the thought of the comparison of that filth with something that is so wonderfully refreshing as spring water.

Why would anyone ever want to mention such a filthy mess? It’s just DISGUSTING!

Which is the key: it’s JUST disgusting; there is NOTHING attractive about it. And, since the Proverbs are essentially an instruction manual, it’s a great opportunity for children to learn that promiscuity and infidelity are disgusting and lethal, before they are overcome by other messages from outside culture and their own body.

It is a primary feature of God’s design that wonderful pleasure and true intimacy may be found in married union. Genesis 2:24 predates everything else, except for the actual Creation.

It’s such a powerful feature, that no wonder enemies of God subvert it to lead us from the way of wisdom. It’s so powerful, it has frightened religious leaders into the error of preaching against it.
They’re wrong, though, and the clear message of the bible proves it.

Peace be on your household.
