Tiny Devotional for Tuesday, 05-07-2024

 A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family who might drop by, it's Cheerios and bran flakes for breakfast.

I have spread my couch with coverings,
With colored linens of Egypt.
I have sprinkled my bed
With myrrh, aloes and cinnamon.
Proverbs 7: 16-17, NASB

NOPE!

Listen to this part of the seduction line offered by the Woman of Folly: 

“I changed the sheets on the bed.”

Good luck with THAT one, girl, but I think you are wasting your breath, plus whatever time you spent arranging and re-arranging the linens. You probably have artfully arranged throw pillows on the couch, too.  And as far as sprinkling spices, if the young fool actually DOES follow you into the bedroom, he's equally likely to sneeze, and say “What stinks in here?”

Will that be enough to spoil the mood you are trying so desperately to arrange? For the sake of the young fool, we hope so. We hope that standing there on the street, he is able to have a brief moment of clarity, and see that you are all shine, and no substance. We hope that he is able, just for the moment, to be overwhelmed by the horror of you boasting of your interior design skills, something that he isn't interested in in the slightest.

Now, out there on the street, the naive young man has no idea that the Woman of Folly is really inviting him in to his death, although there is evidence of the danger in what she tells him. MAYBE, there will be just a tickle of fear in his belly, and that will combine with the pure masculine disgust for throw pillows, and he wanders away. 

It's his only hope!

    The woman of folly will do everything to entice and tempt the young man. What the man needs is Wisdom through the Fear of the Lord. Praise God my Brother Pat!

 A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family who might drop by, May the Fourth be with you! But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, That shines brighter and brighter until the full day. The way of the wicked is like darkness; They do not know over what they stumble. Proverbs 4:18-19, NASB   The preceding four verses warn us away from following after evil, and describes those who do so. Then, we are told WHY we should follow the path of the righteous, followed by the reason not to follow the path of the wicked. Perhaps this is the right way of teaching. This morning, I have had to deal with repercussions of someone hijacking Vanessa's Facebook account. Using this formula, how would I instruct a potential hacker?  Don't be a hacker. I will NOT share space with Four Horsemen today!

Today is the sixth anniversary of the day that Vanessa and I were united in Holy Matrimony. We eloped.  The email I sent out to close friends and family said: Unless you are very prompt about checking your email, by the time you read this, we will be married. It's scheduled as a stealth event (no invites, etc) just after the 5:00 PM service at Liberty Church. Vanessa and Pat  The reason for the elopement? Except for our church family, and one or two of our bio-family, we were catching great big gobs of resistance, and some astounding roadblocks. I think most of it was well-intentioned; people didn't want us to 'rush into things.' They didn't want us to have to face the rigors of living as a mixed race couple in the south.
