A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, is the cold-brew coffee strong enough?

Internet Troll

Who winks with his eyes, who signals with his feet,
Who points with his fingers;
Who with perversity in his heart continually devises evil,
Who spreads strife.

Proverbs 6:13-14, NASB

These are the characteristics of the wicked, who also has a perverse mouth.

Confession: I’m not researching Late Bronze Age communication methods in order to understand all of the implications of winking, signaling, and pointing. There might be something interesting there, but here’s the bottom line:

The wicked uses multiple forms of communication to spread strife.

Unfortunately, the wicked person progressed from winking and pointing to tweeting and posting. The goal is the same: to spread strife.

It’s working.

It’s NOT a trivial issue, unless you regard injecting lies from Satan as trivial.
That’s where it originates, you know. In John 8, Jesus talks about truth and lies, and calls Satan the father of lies. When we spread lies, we are doing the work of demons.

Differences of opinion are NO PROBLEM. Long hair, short hair, Honda or Harley, beef or broccoli; those are just opinions. They AREN’T lies. Celebrate our freedom to differ!

Until there is an app that guarantees the truth, the whole truth, nothing but the truth, it’s up to OUR discernment. We must ask, how can we tune our discernment to reject lies, and discover truth?

How about this:

Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things.
Philippians 4:8, NASV

Peace be on your household.

  2. Amen! We have to be careful what we are posted on social media because it could be spreading strife and contaminating people’s hearts.
