Tiny Devotional for Monday, 08-07-2023

A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, can you recommend a good knife sharpener?

She is now in the streets, now in the squares,
And lurks by every corner.
So she seizes him and kisses him
And with a brazen face she says to him:
Proverbs 7:12-13, NASB

Even Captain Marvel can’t be in multiple places at the same time. 
So, how does the harlot do it?

Lurking on ONE corner, I get. There’s an acronym for that: SOCMOB, for Standing On the Corner, Minding my Own Business. 
It’s what you tell the cops/medics you were doing, when Sumdood just walked up to you and stabbed you, or put all these drugs in your pocket. 
Wicked, bad Sumdood! If we ever find him, it will solve SO MANY crimes!

I guess the harlot must be Sumdood’s cousin, SumChick.
Naive Youth (NY) says: “There I was, SOCMOB, when Sumchick grabbed me and kissed me!”
Wicked, bad Sumchick!

Well, here’s a small clue for you, NY:
Wherever you go, there you are.
You didn’t make an amazing discovery on that corner; ANYONE could have told you that was a bad location. It should NOT have been a surprise. And this particular Sumchick-related tragedy would not have taken place if good old NY hadn’t showed up to participate.
This is a well-known problem, as is evidenced by the solution (spoiler alert!):  
Don’t go there, in your heart or with your feet.
If the real, pressing problem had been Sumchick, don’t you think THAT would have been addressed? Perhaps the world needs changing; but RIGHT NOW, the problem is keeping NY’s naivety from destroying him.
Stay home, boy, and you’ll stay safe!

 A great good morning to all my friends and neighbors in Internet Land! And to family members who have dropped by, reach for the sky. Do not let your heart envy sinners, But live in the fear of the Lord always. Surely there is a future, And your hope will not be cut off. Proverbs 23:17-18, NASB Today’s verse is 18, but I included 17, because I THINK they are a couplet. I wrote about verse 17 last month, and will try not to repeat myself. Our senses describe the present, our memory describes the past; the future is described by our hopes and our fears. In this little verse, we are given one of the strongest foundations for peace: yes, you DO have a future, and it’s a good one. Under most circumstances, we take the future for granted.
